Hello,
Today I will be talking about the WWF Raw is War, and to tell you the truth, I am not too impressed with it. There is one reason for that, the "main event." Now I'm all for Lita; don't take this the wrong way because she's hot, but she does not deserve to be in the main event against Steph, someone who can't wrestle. It's like having a main event of HHH vs Me. I can't wrestle and he'd be not even hitting me like seen in this match. I was very happy that Lita won the belt, but c'mon have that as a prelude to the main event or something. That was definitely a miss for the WWF IMO.
The other matches themselves were okay. I was kind of dissappointed Blackman lost the belt to Shane, but I think that was a good move. Remember Shane's match last year at Summerslam? That was incredible, and Shane has the ability to put on a great match and can take some nice bumps. The Angle/HHH match vs the Acolytes was very good, though how can HHH, a 4-time champ cower at Bradshaw? Anyway, it was good how the WWF continued its Angle/HHH feud.
The continuation of the 3 Tag teams fighting in the TLC match was excellent too, as we were once again graced with a Edge/Christian run-in. And the WWF also had the tension w/ DX continue by using the Dudleyz and Edge/Christian. Hm, Crash Holly and Ivory, an odd combination, and they are fighting the new Fruit of the Looms Underwear spokesman and Trish Stratus. I guess so. It was a little sub-par but at least Chyna ran out.
Rikishi vs Kane- that's an intersting match but was well done and also showed Kane's "monster" side the WWF wants us to see. The RTC run-in was obviously used to set up a match at Summerslam. One good thing about the RTC? The Stevie ahem Steven Kick. The Y2J vs Saturn ended exactly as everyone expected- a Benoit run-in. I think that's all the matches, if I forgot any that means they were decent, not good enough or bad enough to remember.
Okay now for the Mandible grade- Well, seriously, I thought the main event brought the whole show down. Yes, it was nice to see Lita win, but the match was nothing great and I think that having those two fight in the main event was reprehensible and totally unnecessary. I mean, Steph can't wrestle and Lita had to carry that match and sell moves like crazy. The best part of the match was the Rock. Well that final match really influenced the decision here, and I'd have to put in my grade book a 76 (that is about a C+ I guess). That's the way I feel. WWF definitely could have put on a better main event and that would have increased it's grade up to the high 80's. A HHH/Angle vs Rock/anybody match would have been that much more awesome.
Well, next week I will be back, and you'll probably see this column again in a few days as I'll think of something to write. But just remember- Have a Nice Day!
