The Plot
We start with Reuban getting married to Lisa. The two go off on their honeymoon to some beautiful tropic location. While there, Lisa and Reuben are offered scuba lessons by a naked man named Claude. They decide to go for the lessons but at the last minute Reuben declines. He comes back to find his wife cheating on him with Claude! Reuben of course leaves and goes back to New York City where his friend, Sandy, tries to console him. They go out to a party where Reuben runs into Polly Prince, a women he hasn't met since about 4th grade. Reuben then decides he is going to ask Polly out, which is totally against his usual study-every-risk self. Of course, problems arise when Lisa comes back for Reuben and Polly finds out that Reuben put Lisa vs. Polly on his risk management program to see which one had the least amount of risk.
My Review
This movie is a comedy, so you don't expect much out of the plot, and basically the plot is very simple. Movies like this rely on being funny and this movie sort of succeeds. It is a funny movie. I only had one major complaint. No offense to Philip Seymour Hoffman, but the part of Sandy Lyle was totally written for Jack Black. The maneurisms, the delivery, everything screamed Jack Black. Other than that, it was what it was. It had its funny moments, its gross-out humor. It was just your average comedy. Ben Stiller and Jennifer Aniston were pretty good too. If you want to see a really hilarious Stiller movie, I'd say you'd be better off with Meet the Parents, and a better Aniston movie is Bruce Almighty, but they did have pretty good chemistry
