Comic Book Catch Up Vol. II Part III
This would be the Dark Knight portion of the Comic Book Catch Up. With that brief intro, let’s go!
Catching Up – Dark Knight:
-Batman #’s 665-668- Batman #’s 665-6 wasn’t too good to be honest. #665 featured Batman aching from an attack from a Bat person and Robin attacking him. Batman saves but the villain leaves. #666 is Damien being Batman of the future. Both were confusing for me and weren’t enjoyable. #667 started a three-part arc of Batman and Robin with the Legion of Heroes on a desserted island with a murderer on the loose, picking them off one at a time. Very And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie and it was very good, both issues.
-Batman Annual #26- This was a very long, though very boring, look at the history of Ra’s Al Ghul. Basically, Batman is investigating why two archeologists are dead and it coincides with someone wanting to kill Damien in order for Ra’s to live. Damien lives, the assistant dies, and the book of Ra’s is in Batman’s possession.
-Batman/Lobo: Deadly Serious #1- Batman and Lobo are summoned to a ship where a mystery virus or being is inhabiting women and using them to kill and maim. Batman and Lobo must work together and stop this. This was quite bad, to be honest. The non-core titles were pretty bad this time around.
-Detective Comics #’s 832-835- #832 featured a neat story of the Terrible Trio, that someone was picking them off, including killing The Shark. All is not how it turns out to be as Batman solves the mystery. #833 and 844 is a two-parter featuring Zatanna and Batman investigating the murder of an assistant by famed illusionist Ivar Loxias. Of course, all is not as it seems and Ivar is really Joker in disguise! He shoots Zatanna in the throat, too. They team up the next issue and stop him. #835 starts a two-parter where Scarecrow escapes from Arkham and commits vicious crimes, all without his fear gas.
That finishes that, Detective Comics and Batman were good, the other two were not. Up next are the Fantastic Four books.
