Misc. Reviews

I think I may have mentioned this a long time ago, but I don't get all my comics from my local LCS. My father has been buying all Marvel comics from his source since 1991 and when he moved upstate he decided to keep on buying them. Of course, he couldn't pick them up every month. Now, I still live near him and so every two or three months I head over to his place to pick up usually 5-7 hundred dollars worth of Marvels. I always pull out all X-titles, All-FF titles, Punisher MAX and Runaways. I also pick up Detective Comics and Batman, too So those aren't reviewed in TPL since I don't have them. I always wanted to review them on here but never found the time. Now I have a little so I'm gonna post my thoughts on some of the books I've read. This will be a semi-regular column (I hope) and I won't review all books in depth, just short thoughts on those I think are worth it. So, this is part one of comic book catch-up.

Spoilers Ahead:

Batman #663: -Wow, what a gread read this was. It's in prose format, written by Grant Morrison, with some awesome illustrations and a completely crazy, Joker story. This one comes highly recommended.

Detective Comics #'s 829-831: -  829 and 830 was a two-parter and not written by Dini. It was pretty good though not great. 831 comes right back with an awesome Dini single story focusing on Harley Quinn and her wanting to do good. Pick up #831.

Runaways #'s 24-25: I was never more satisified with a writer's end tale than Runaways #24. The ending was perfect and something I didn't see coming. He will be missed. Luckily, Joss Whedon came on board and knocked it out of the park. He gets these characters and having them in NYC working for Wilson Fisk should bring some awesome stories, especially with Punisher at the end. If you're gonna jump on the Runaways bandwagon, get on with #25. Me, I've been on the whole time, loving it since Vol. 1 #1 came out.

That's that for now.
