Here is an archive of all the Tom's Top Ten.

For no reason other than I like writing, I have started a new list here. It's called: Tom's Top Ten. In it, I will rank my top ten favorite, well, whatever the topic is. For the inaugural edition I figure I will rank TV shows. Also, no reason for starting with TV shows. Without further ado, here we go! Now, you may notice a lot of these shows were from the late 80's to now since, that's when I watched TV. This isn't a be-all, end-all, top ten, just my top ten.

Tom's Top Ten TV Shows:

  1. Seinfeld - There was no funnier show in my opinion and this show was consistently funny. There was never a serious moment and that's what I like from my sitcoms. Favorite episode is probably The Marine Biologist, for George's rant at the end.
  2. The Wonder Years - This was just such a sentimental show that got to me every time. I can't explain why I loved this show. Maybe it showed a simpler time that every youngster can relate to. One of the biggest crimes is that this isn't out on DVD yet. I would buy that up in a second. I think my favorite episode is the Series Finale. Damn, that was some strong stuff.
  3. Family Guy - I don't feel a bit strange putting this so high up. This is one of the funniest, most inane shows (not just cartoons) I have ever seen. The writing is usually spot on and I can literally sit and watch this for hours straight. The pop-culture references, the silly things that happen, the characters, it's all gold. My favorite episode at this time may be When You Wish Upon a Weinstein.
  4. The Prisoner - For a short while in the late 60's, UK TV viewers were treated to the best single-season show ever. Before shows like Lost and Heroes made episodic themed series popular, we had a secret agent brought to this island and just couldn't escape. We never truly knew why he was there, or even his name! There were twists and turns and this is a series suited to multiple viewings. Just perfect. Favorite episode: Hammer Into Anvil.
  5. The Twilight Zone - Rod Serling may just be the most brilliant mind television has ever seen. Every week he would put out these great shows that were scary and really made you think. They weren't scary like a Jason or Freddie, no it was more psychological horror. Themes he introduced are still being used. Favorite Episode: It's A Good Life
  6. Saved By The Bell - I must've seen these shows about a million times each. I was a little younger than the characters on the show but I could relate to them and the show was just so corny and silly you couldn't not enjoy it.
  7. Full House - Call me crazy, but this was just a silly show that I am actually admitting I liked. Like SBTB, I have seen every episode multiple times. It did have its cheesy moments but on the whole I felt it was enjoyable, wholesome fun.
  8. Growing Pains - Just a very good little sitcom that I always thought in the same vein as Wonder Years. The characters were a bit more quirky (like Mike Seaver) but not quite as memorable as Wonder Years. I still watched this every week and is worthy of inclusion on this list.
  9. Perfect Strangers - I liked this show, especially for Balki. His accent was hilarious to me. Honestly, I don't watch much TV and I'm reaching here. Perfect for a debut article!
  10. Step By Step - This show has been on in syndication so much that I've been watching it and remembering how much I liked it, even though their young kid grew like 6 years in one season. Still, prior to Balki coming on the show (as a French hairdresser) this show was very funny, mostly due to Cody.
There you have it, my ten favorite TV shows. I don't watch much TV to be honest, so this list may be a little weird, but I stand by my top five with a fiery passion. Enjoy! Look for volume two somewhere down the line!
