Welcome to the second edition of Tom's Top Ten. This edition deals with my all-time favorite cartoons. They are all pretty modern but that's what I like. Onto the list:

Tom's Top Ten Cartoons

1. Family Guy- This is one of the funniest shows I've ever seen and ranked in my top 3, so you knew it had to be tops on here. I think I wrote all I could about it on the other edition so you know my feelings on it.
   
2. Transformers- This is probably my favorite animated cartoon (aimed at kids) and my favorite toy I played with as a kid. Hell, I still have Devestator on top of my computer! Transforming robots, can't beat it.
   
3. G.I. Joe- Still in the thick of the 80's comes another popular 30 minute toy commercials. I think they had the best vehicles and playsets known to man and you saw them all on this cartoon. Cobra Commander is probably one of the most regarded villains in TV history.
   
4. X-Men- This is partly due to my comic geekiness but when this show first hit, with its darker storytelling and awesome nods to the comic, all fans had to take notice. I think this was the definitive Wolverine before Hugh Jackman took over the role.
   
5. American Dad- This is quite high on the list even though it's only had 3 seasons. At times the writing is wittier than Family Guy and it has two of my favorite all-time TV episodes: the one with Stan's self-love problem and the Peanut Butter episode.
   
6. The Simpsons- I haven't watched as of late but you have to give props to the show. 400 episodes and counting. I think the first 10 seasons were nothing short of brilliant.
   
7. Spider-Man- Not as good as the X-Men series, this was still very reverential to the comics and I still think of this actor's voice when I read Spider-Man comics. Sharp art and storytelling put this in the top five.
   
8. Powerpuff Girls- Definitely the guilty pleasure on the list. I loved the manga-ish animation and Mojo Jojo was just a hilarious villain. It was always well-written, too.
   
9. Batman: The Animated Series- Another comic book cartoon makes the list as this kick-started the age of animated comic book icons. It was much darker than any other WB show at the time (owing the imagery to the early Fleischer Superman cartoons) and it even took character adaptations from the cartoon and put them in the comic book.
   
10. He-Man- I originally had Futurama here but that got jettisoned off the list for one of my favorite childhood memories: He-Man. Not really that great when I watch it now but this is my list dammit.
