Sleepy Sunday Night
March 7th, 2010
Hey everyone. It's Sunday night and I am freaking exhausted. I am training for my half-marathon on May 2nd and today I ran 7 miles OUTSIDE! I've been running on the treadmill the last few months of winter and since today was a nice 50 degrees out it was a perfect opportunity to run outside. I'm feeling it now! I'm achy and tired. I can't wait to sleep tonight. I will try to go to bed by 1030 and sleep around 8 and a half hours tonight.
I don't have much else to talk about tonight. I have reviews for you, though! The first is what I had ready for yesterday but just forgot to post. It is the TPB review for The Flash Chronicles Vol. 1. I was surprised with how much I enjoyed this collection. I also have the newest DVD review to post. It is X-Men Origins: Wolverine, a good popcorn action film. I finished this review on February 20th so you know how recent it is to the archives. In terms of this week's upcoming reviews, Tuesday will be the TPL (which is ALREADY done), Thursday will see the newest episode of WWE Superstars, Saturday will be the Trade Review and we end with another DVD review for Sunday. I have one ready (WWE: Hulk's Unreleased Collection) and I should be done with a second one by tonight (Shrek The Third). I will be getting the newest JLA and Planet Hulk animated DVD's and those are easy to get through so I should be okay through March in terms of DVD reviews. That's all for now guys, see you later.
WWE Superstars 09/21/91
March 11th, 2010
Well, it's Thursday and WWE Classics.com has updated its latest episode of Superstars. This is the September 21st, 1991 episode and is notable for the first appearance of the Nature Boy, Ric Flair. That makes it worth a look just for that! I don't have anything else to add right now so I will see you back here on Saturday!
Wash-Out
March 14th, 2010
Well the title says it all for this weekend. It was a complete wash-out. It rained almost 48 hours non-stop and it was tough to get anything done. It didn't help that I was really sick on Friday night and Saturday (must've been some sort of flu-bug going around because it was not pretty on those days). In fact, I really only ate late Saturday night, going almost 24 hours without eating. I feel a little better now, though I'm not back to 100%. That doesn't explain the absence of a Marvel Masterworks review yesterday. The truth is, I had it ready to go but I had nothing to write about and decided to just throw it in here today. It was Marvel Masterworks: Nick Fury Agent of SHIELD and it was a great Jim Steranko showcase. I also have a DVD review up for today and it is WWE: Hulk Hogan's Unreleased Collection. I was actually pleasantly surprised with how well the first two discs played. Hogan was somewhat versatile in his early WWE days. In regards to this upcoming week; there's a Family Guy review for tomorrow, TPL is ready for Tuesday, and there'll be your usual OGN/TPB and DVD review for the weekend. I'm working on Marvel's newest animated DVD now and I'm pretty pumped for it. I won't say anything else but that review should be posted in about 3 weeks.
2010 TV Round-Up Part 9
March 15th, 2010
Family Guy 03/14/10 Episode 13: Go Stewie Go This is a rare double-main-event type episode with two main storylines. The first features Stewie dressing as a girl (named Karina Smirnoff) to get onto a TV show but runs into trouble when he falls in love with his female co-star. The second sees Lois going after Meg’s new boyfriend. Lois even sends Meg away so she can have time with the kid and Meg walks in on her mother in her bra, complete with Seinfeld theme music. I actually thought the episode got off to a great start but it simply ran out of time for both to be concluded in an appropriate manner. The Lois story-line ended with her blaming Peter for making her feel ugly and they make out to clear up that little story. Never mind that Meg was acting crazy to her mother and nothing really coming of it. Stewie reveals that he’s not a girl but a boy, on live television no less, and we sort of end it with him leaving the studio with Brian. I feel that both stories should’ve been a main story in an episode with a lesser sub-plot because it just didn’t make sense having two plots like this smashed into one 22-minute episode. This could’ve been a lot better. B-.
