WWE: Self-Destruction of the Ultimate Warrior
I am posting this a little earlier than usual (shortly after midnight rather than in the early evening) since I figured, I am on the computer now (just finshed making three tests) and may not be able to devote the 20 minutes I need to update the website and the blogs I run since I have a ton of SJU HW to finish and about 4 volleyball games on the tube. Anyway, this week's entry is a really cool one, WWE: Self-Destruction of the Ultimate Warrior. It's just an absolute WWE smear film on Ultimate Warrior. You won't believe it, really.
In sporting news, the New York Rangers opened their season in Prague at 11:30am in the morning when I was enroute from my 8:30-12:30pm SJU class and my school's open house. Yeah, I basically was out from 7:45-5:15 doing school/work stuff, which is a full day in itself. Okay, tangent over, the Rangers opened their season with a 2-1 win in what I hope will be the first of many wins. THN put the Rangers at 6th in the East, but I think they could vie for a top 4 spot. My other passion (in terms of sports) is the SJU volleyball, who posted a very disappointing 3-1 loss to Marquette. They aren't a bad team and I am not mad they lost, but the way that SJU lost is what is stunning. The two teams split the first two sets, and SJU had a commanding 19-8 lead on the third 25-point set, and absolutely blew it, scoring only 5 more points to Marquette's 18. Just pathetic. They had a decent lead in the fourth set as well, but blew that, too. It was a case of terrible blown opportunities, something they never would've done last year. This is the start of a rebuilding year, and next year will be even worse as 5 more seniors are leaving this year, including star setter Wioleta Leszczynska, well on her way to the SJU record for assists in only three years. Tough loss, but hopefully they can return to form when they play Syracuse this afternoon.

TV for the Week 10/05 - 10/06/08
Family Guy 10/05/08 Episode 2: “I Dream of Jesus” I questioned if Family Guy had lost its luster last week and I am happy to say that it has not. This had everything the previous episode didn’t, an actual story with a beginning, middle and end, a lot of funny moments and cutaways, and best of all, almost no Cleveland! The episode can be summarized simply enough, Peter meets Jesus at a record store after his record of Surfin’ Bird is smashed (a la Office Space) by Stewie and Brian, who were sick of Peter constantly playing it. Peter tells Jesus he needs to tell the world he’s back and he does, on the Jay Leno show. Jesus becomes bigger than Jesus (a nod to the famous John Lennon quote about the Beatles) and soon Jesus gets too big and starts ignoring Peter. The show itself actually had a satisfying conclusion and is one of the better episodes in recent memory in terms of an actual plot with three acts. One thing about this episode is that it really wasn’t controversial. It didn’t feature something that I, as a Catholic, found offensive in any way.Great episode. A.
American Dad 10/05/08 Episode 2: “The One That Got Away” The Smith family gets obsessed with Simon (the game) while Roger plays detective to find out who stole and maxed out his credit card. Roger finds the one who did it and gets set on ruining the thief’s life. Of course, the twist thrown out there is that it was one of Roger’s persona’s who stole his own credit card. Yes, Roger’s persona’s have taken on lives of their own. The great thing is, we actually take a look at that persona in action. This is actually a lot different from what we are used to, but not in a bad way. It was a total Roger-centric story about the masks he wears and is a very interesting psychological analysis of Roger, but still keeping its comic base (I require a password with letters and numbers!). This was a very good Roger episode, and really the only thing it missed was a big laugh-out-loud moment. B+.
Heroes 10/06/08 Episode 4: I Am Become Death. This was a pretty loaded episode, skipping around from plot to plot. Sometimes it can hurt the flow of the show, but if it is quick cuts around one major section, I am fine with that. We look in on Tracy, who was given her powers as well as her two twins, Niki and one other one. Mohinder is changing and I just hope they move on with this story, and the Parkman one (he’s still on the spirit walk). Nathan still has Linderman in another weak storyline. Ando and Hiro are still imprisoned and Ando is starting to turn on Hiro. The best stuff by far was the Peter in the future part, coming in contact with an evil Claire and even Uncle Sylar. Zachary Quinto just killed in this episode, first as the fatherly male version of Donna Reed to the crazed parent who loses his child. The rest of the show puttered about with more of Nathan and Tracy (is Nathan’s divorce even final?) and Parkman seeing the future in his spirit walk. Peter returns to the past learning that Sylar is his brother and seeking him out, and finding him in Level 5. Ando and Hiro are sent out by Angela to find the formula and they need the help of one man, Adam Monroe, aka Kensei, aka the guy who Hiro buried last year. He isn’t too happy upon seeing Hiro. This episode had a slow beginning and end, but the stuff in the middle with future Sylar and Peter was just awesome.

WWE: Royal Rumble Anthology Vol. II
This week I have up for you all the second volume of the Royal Rumble Anthology. I can't believe how many reviews I finished towards the end of August since it is now October and I seem to barely get one done a week! I really don't have much to post about this weekend, as it is in the middle of a three-day weekend, one I really needed. My shows aren't on tonight, but Heroes is still new on Monday so I will review that by Monday night. Monday also marks the first day of my Fantasy NHL players having their stats actually count. I picked just an awesome team, and the other seven guys I am playing against will be no match for my team. Let's see, we have Lecavalier, Thornton and Lundqvist as the top three, but the rest of the team is pretty solid all around, and I should pile up a lot of points. Thornton's #1 goal guy, Cheechoo is on the team, Pascal Leclaire is my backup goalie (9 SHO last season), a bunch of the young Kings are on the team (Kopitar and Frolov) and so if they put up good numbers this championship is a lock. Not too much are going on in sports. The SJU Volleyball team had a big win on Friday against the Rutgets Doormats, with the last two games being complete blow-outs to the point where the benchwarmers were able to come in and play. Should they win their next 9 Big East games, they will be Big East Regular Season Champs for the third year in a row.

Heroes 10/13/08
Episode 5: Angels and Monsters Nathan chats to Linderman when Tracy wakes up to see him. Mohinder finds a common drug dealer to do something with, or to. Maya makes an appearance and notes that Suresh's neighbor is missing, though we see he's webbed up on his wall. Maya comes back and sees what Mohinder has done, and she calls him a monster, and he doesn't like that. Peter finds out he's Sylar's brother, breaks his neck, then threatens to take out his mother's head to find the secrets. Sylar heals himself and saves Angela, then goes on another mission with Noah. Meanwhile, Peter is put in a coma and Nathan shows up with Tracy. Angela tells Nathan he got his powers through Zimmerman, too, so he is an artificial hero, too. Claire's mother finds out that Claire has gone after one of the villains, though they don't know which one. They hope it isn't Eric Doyle, some terrible man, and it is probably the one Claire went after since why waste an expository plot point like that? Actually, Claire goes after a villain who can make vortexes that makes things disappear. She takes him out with a tazer. Man, you are a weak-ass villain if a tazer takes you down. The villain takes Claire hostage and finds out that she isn't in the Company. Turns out he's not so bad, just misunderstood, and he lets Claire go, and Claire helps the man find his family. Unfortunately, HRG and Sylar break through the door, and that's who Sylar was going after. The man opens a vortex and Claire is almost sucked in, until Sylar saves her. HRG finds the man and tells him to kill Sylar for his freedom, but the guy just sends himself into the vortex instead. Hiro needs Adam's help and he thinks it is Angela who took the formula. So Adam takes Hiro to a super-villain bar, where he proceeds to escape. Interestingly enough, Daphne (the speedster) talks to Linderman about some sort of heroes coalition. Only Daphne can see him, too. So she gathers a team for Linderman, including Hiro (who seemingly kills Ando) and she's off to get Matt Parkman. It turns out that this is all due to the machinations of Mr. Petrelli, who is out to build an army of his own to take on the Company. The ending was quite good, the rest of the episode around it came off as very dry. I still don't like the Suresh mad scientist stuff. There is a Puppet Master type villain that I don't see panning out. He was a joke in the FF and this is a character that seems just goofy on screen. The first disappointing episode of the season.

WWE: Ric Flair and the Four Horsemen
We continue with the WWE DVD reviews, as I was knocking these out like crazy towards the end of August. Of course, since school began I haven't been able to finish another WWE one since, especially because I have been picking up other movie and TV DVD's at a pace of about one per week, and since it takes me that long to do them, I have been knocking those out of the way and keeping the WWE ones for a little bit later. This week we have WWE: Ric Flair and the Four Horsemen, a collection that takes a look at, you guessed it, the Four Horsemen.
I don't have too much else to say right now. I just finished an awesome comic book movie DVD, which if you know what's come out recently you should guess which one it is. The SJU Women's Volleyball team had a big game against UCONN yesterday, one that was too close for comfort. They split the first four sets, something last year's team wouldn't have done, then just demolished them in the final frame to 15 points, winning 15-3. It was a big win for the team. The Rangers have cooled off a bit since opening the season 5-0, losing to the Sabres and the Red Wings, though getting a point out of the Red Wing game. Of course, they beat the Maple Leafs 1-0. I was happy to hear that score (I couldn't watch the game since I was chaperoning a dance) since Lundqvist is on my fantasy hockey team. Of course, that was the night Lundqvist had off. So I lost the SHO category thanks to Brodeur blanking the Thrashers (who started someone who was on my team, Kari Lehtonen). It still looks like I will win this week (the first week of competition) as I am winning now 7-4, and if my three players have a good night against his one, I could even take it 8-4 or 9-4. That would be a nice start.

WWE: Rise and Fall of ECW
I am going to keep this brief today, as I desperately want to finish the Robot Chicken DVD I am working on. Anyway, this week's newly posted review is: WWE: Rise and Fall of the ECW. It featured a pretty lengthy main sequence, and some decent matches. Check out the review for more indepth commentary on it.
I don't have much to say about sports this week. The SJU Volleyball team won on Friday which was good, the Rangers had an awesome game last night against the Penguins, and my fantasy team stunk up the joint, losing 7-3. Ouch! Luckily I'm still a .500 team and next week's match-up is very favorable to me. Fantasy Basketball also starts this week, and since I know nothing about basketball I should be losing handily. That's about all for this Sunday's edition, look for another posting tomorrow on Heroes. No Family Guy or American Dad due to the World Series so tonight I'll be watching Judge Judy probably.
