Rent Part Three
I saw Rent for the third time this year with my fiancee and we love it every time we see it. Unfortunately, our favorite Mark wasn't there, as Christopher J. Hanke had the night off. It was still a great show and we were very snug and comfortable in our $20 seats in the second row (I love the lottery). Tamyra Gray was amazing and has a fantastic voice. After the show (and walking D to the train, I stay in the city to work) I walked past the Nederlander and got a chance to see and speak to some of the cast members. I spoke (just a few words) to Troy Horne (and I even let him borrow my Sharpie so he could sign people's stuff!), Haven Burton (who was wearing a long white dress type thing and seems so hippy), Karmine Alers, Maia Nkenge Wilson, Shaun Earl, Justin Johnston, Moeisha McGill, D'Monroe, and Tim Howar. I actually talked to Tim a bit about music (he's never had a chance to catch the Allman's at the Beacon) and found out he won't be back after Adam Pascal returns as Roger. He tells me he's going back to the UK and can't wait to be with his kids. Awww!!! I think we're going to try and go at least one more time to see Rent before July 30th and I am sure I will write all about it here!

Rent, rent, rent, rent, rent, rent! We're not gonna pay rent! When everything is rent!!!!"

Friday Review?
Hello all,
It's Wednesday night (I think, I don't know my days anymore). Actually, it's Thursday. I usually post DVD reviews every Friday and I am trying really hard to finish American Dad Volume 2. I won't get it done though. Looks like a Friday without a DVD review. In its place I may post not one but two (TWO!) book reviews: Family Guy: It Takes A Village Idiot, and I Married One and a comic book review, Batman: The Long Halloween. I also have to start TPL which may be a problem because I haven't even bought the books yet. I'm hoping for tomorrow and depending on how many books I get, it may not get done. I will try my best though. Anyway, the countdowns are on. I have 22 days until I am married! 26 days until my job is ovah (and only 11 days of work in those 26 days), and 25 days until Rent with Anthony and Adam! Awesome! Well, it's almost 11:45pm and I need to log onto the phones to ignore some more calls. I will post again shortly.

Family Guy: It Takes A Village Idiot, and I Married One
This is actually a neat idea. One episode of Family Guy featured Lois winning an election against Mayor West to become the mayor of Quahog. Though her run was brief, it did include some memorable moments. She ended up resigning but no good mayor can go without writing their memoirs, and this book serves as Lois’. That is a great idea in theory but in execution falls short of what it could be. It is a very short book (about 87 pages) and instead of being written by Lois, she gives other characters an opportunity to write things about her in the book. So each character, from her immediate family to some oddballs like Tricia Takanawa, and Herbert get to write a page or two about her. It was funny at times, especially the part written by her father and featuring her wedding invitation (paraphrasing here: we regret to invite you to the marriage of Lois to sack-of-shit Griffin) but could quickly become just gross (like Quagmire’s used picture of Lois, complete with his man-stains on it, ewww!). A lot of it was just there to feature as many characters as possible and most of them were too short to be worth anything. Family Guy lovers, like me, will enjoy this book just because its Family Guy related. It contains some inside references to past episodes and characterizations that would be lost on casual fans. Because of that, casual viewers will not understand most of what is going on in this book. I will buy the other Family Guy books, since I’m crazy like that, but I would not recommend this to a casual audience as it was too short to be considered great and didn’t feature enough bang for its buck.
