Only a 2 month vacation...
I am going to ease into posting back on here. There will be a review today and I have a few I am going to post sometime later this week (I promise). I also have plans to start up TPL again. I love writing and I haven't been doing too much of it lately and I really want to get back into it. I may even start a real-life blog where I talk about my day. I was reading some posts from April 2003-April 2004 where I posted semi-regularly and damn, some of that stuff was actually pretty good. Anyway, I digress. Here is Seinfeld Volume 5 (Season 6) which is brand spanking new on the site though it was finished in January. I have 6 reviews left to post, then I think I will start going through the archives with some of my old Wrestling posts, some CD reviews and whatever else I wrote (maybe even my blog archives!) all while I complete the 14-disc Superman DVD collection (I finished 2 of 14 already!). I have big ideas ahead. Of course, it's all a matter of following through.

Imus in the Mourning
Well, it's certainly been a bad couple of days for Don Imus now hasn't it? Honestly, the racist prick deserves it. He comes out and basically tells the entire world he is a raging racist with no clue on how to act in the real world and doesn't yet realize there are some things you probably shouldn't say on the air. Idiot. Of course, now people are calling for him to be fired. He's already been suspended for two weeks starting next Monday. Is it too much, or unfair? I have heard a lot of sides of the story but one of the most compelling was from a guy on CNN (didn't catch his name and I can't find it on the main page) who basically says that although what Imus said was wrong, he shouldn't face repercussions due to a little thing called the first amendment. It was an African-American who said this as well. Should Imus not face any repercussions because of this? I don't know. I really don't. I guess you can say you can't always hide behind the first amendment between what is right and decent and what is just wrong. I think it will be interesting to see how this turns out and if Imus will still have a job by the end of the month. I also feel bad for the Rutgers girls who are thrust into the spotlight for the wrong reasons. I applaud their trip to the finals, and can say they played really well (I did watch the game unlike probably 95% of the people reporting on this) and Pat Summitt (coach of Tennessee) has spoken out against Imus as well.
In other news, we finally learn who the father of Anna Nicole Smith's kid is and I for one do not care. I guess it's a slow news day since this is splashed all over the CNN.com main page. Let's file this under news no one will care about in one year.
In the sporting world, Pacman Jones has been suspended for the whole year in a move I wholeheartedly agree with. If you can't stay out of trouble you shouldn't be allowed to play. I hope this sends a message and all the other major sports should implement something as well. Now the Bengals have a problem since if this year is anything like last, they'll be out about 30 players.
In the midst of this blog, I actually posted three more things to the website, bringing my reviews into 2007 and leaving only three reviews left to post. I did and X-Men Darktide review but can't seem to find it. I will go back to that since it was only 8 minutes long anyway. Here's whats new today: Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe, The Who: Live At Lyons, and Ultimate Avengers 2. None of these DVD's blew me away but you can read it for yourself.

10 Year Wait is OVER!
Let's Go Rangers! They beat the Thrashers last night 4-3 in Game 1 which marks their first playoff victory since May of 1997, their first game 1 victory since the second round of the 1994 playoffs, and their first Game 1 road victory since April of 1989. Wow. It's been a long time on all accounts. I was so pumped for the game and I hope the New York Rangers can turn this into a first round victory and advance to the second round.
On a completely unrelated note, Imus was fired yesterday which was deserved considering his stupidity. He also met with the Rutgers basketball team. Oddly enough, New Jersey mayor John Corzine was on his way to moderate the meeting and got in a serious car accident. So I guess Imus is indirectly responsible for that too since Corzine would've never been going that way had Imus not opened his mouth.
Onto the meat of the post, I have cleared out my DVD review archives and we are completely up to date. I am close to finishing the first Superman 4-disc DVD review but its hit a bit of a snag as I have been too preoccupied with other things. Whatever, that's another post. Here are today's reviews: Seinfeld Volume 6 (Season 7), Family Guy Volume 4 (the second half of Season 4) and Transformers 20th Anniversary DVD Set. All three were pretty awesome so click on it and read it. I hope to start posting some of my old stuff in the days and weeks to come. Until then, Let's Go Rangers!

Break out the Brooms!
The Rangers just swept the Thrashers. I nearly jumped through the ceiling when Jagr scored the empty net goal to secure the game. I can't believe how badly the Thrashers were outplayed. I knew the Rangers would win but I could never foresee a sweep. They made the Thrash look absolutely sick. In the 240 minutes played in the series, the Thrashers led only a little over 7 minutes. That, is domination. One good thing is the Rangers have some time to rest but I hope they don't fall into the same trap the Devils did last year. The Devs came into the playoffs super hot and promptly dispatched their first round opponent (the Rangers unfortunately) and had a long layoff before round two. They played round two and were spanked by the Hurricanes. I hope the Rangers can come out strong in round two. Here's how I see the rest of the playoffs panning out.
The East: BUF vs. NYI - Buffalo has this in hand, and will win in 5. NJ vs. TB - This is hard to pick, the Devs haven't played well (besides Zajac) and Brodeur hasn't been Brodeur yet. I still think the Devs will win in 7. OTT vs. PIT - Sid the kid now has playoff experience at least... Ott in 5.
The West: DET vs. CGY - Det has this one in hand, expect them to close it out in 5 or 6 games. ANA vs. MIN - Minnesota has been awful and got a lucky one at home. They won't be going back to Minnesota to play. Anaheim in 5. VAN vs. DAL - Another disappointment for the Stars, time to get a better playoff goalie. Van in 5. NSH vs. SJ - I can see Nashville coming back in this one. They have a solid team. If they lose, they will be upset they gave up so much for Forsberg who hasn't been a factor in this series yet. SJ in 6.
That will lead to a second round of: East: BUF vs. NYR: This will be an awesome series. The Rangers have been hot and Lundqvist has been the best goalie in the league since the All-Star game. I want the Rangers to win but I feel Buffalo is too deep and too good. The Rangers will take them to the limit though. Buffalo in 7. NJ vs. OTT: I think this will be the year the Senators finally break through. It's tough to bet against the Devils with Brodeur in net but they don't have scoring up front and are much weaker than they've been in past years. Ottawa in 5.
West: DET vs. SJ: The west is much tougher to predict, all four of these teams could win the Cup. The Wings stand tall over the Sharks and I think it will be a quick series, especially if the Sharks are without Cheechoo. Wings in 5. ANA vs. VAN: I don't know much about either teams but Luongo will win this for the Canucks. Vancouver in 6.
Conference Finals: BUF vs. OTT: Buffalo takes this in a close one. The teams have some bad blood after their brawls in the regular season so expect this to be intense. I see a high-scoring run and gun type series with some 5-4 games thrown in. Buffalo will take this as I like Miller a bit more than Emery. Buffalo in 6. DET vs. VAN: This will be much different than the East finals as it will be more of a goaltending battle. Hasek is good, but old. Luongo will outlast him in a long series and Vancouver will make the finals for the first time since 94. Van in 7.
Finals: BUF vs. VAN: I can predict one thing about this series. One team will win the Cup for the first time. Should be a very good series. I think Buffalo will take it in 7.
There you have it. I want the NYR to make the finals. They have history on their side. Their previous sweeps of a 4 game series game in 1972 and 1994 and both years they made it to the Finals. I'm hoping for a miracle run to the finals a la Edmonton last year and they have the tools to do it. Three solid lines, a pretty good PK and a fantastic goalie who won a Gold Medal last year. Let's Go Rangers.
